Captain Nemo is the 11th episode of Season 1, and is episode 11 of the full 210 episodes for the entire series. In this episode, Ray becomes the captain of their "Pizza League" basketball team. Ray thinks it's too stressful, and Debra doesn't like the fact that Ray never spends any time with her and the kids anymore.

Synopsis[]
Ray and Robert play basketball for Nemo's Pizza. The team has been on a long losing streak under Kevin's captaincy and the players decide to pick a new team captain. The majority of the team picks Robert.
Even though the team starts winning, they are unhappy with Robert's attitude as a captain. So they replace him with Ray.
With Ray being the new captain, he is away from his family a lot more...and Debra doesn't like that. Also, Robert is upset that he was kicked out of his job as team captain. So he joins Wo-Hop's Chinese Takeout's basketball team.
After an argument with Debra, and seeing his family all sitting at the table having a nice breakfast, Ray has a change of heart and decides to quit the team so he can spend time with his family.
Nemo's basketball team eventually loses in the final round of the playoffs to Robert and his new team, Wo-Hop's.
Running Gags[]
In this episode it is shown that Debra is very annoyed and disgusted with Ray's friends and has little patience for them.
When Ray is in the shower and his friends walk in, they all start imitating him and the way he talks, which is something that is revisited several times throughout the series.
One of the longest running jokes in the show is Robert's unusual height. It's referred to a lot in this episode because basketball players are generally tall.
Trivia[]
- The boom mic is visible at the beginning when Ray is talking to Debra.
- Popular hockey player Mark Messier was mentioned in the episode, but never appeared in the show.
- Even though Wo-Hop's name is seen on the basketball team's T-shirts, the English subtitles on the DVD spell it "Woolhoff".
