Summary[]
Now that Robert is back with Amy, the family turns to another problem: Marie's eyes. Her eyesight is getting worse, so Debra asks her to go get glasses.
After getting glasses to correct her vision, Marie is able to notice the little flaws in everything, including the family's appearances, which leads to everyone becoming self-conscious of themselves and changing to make her stop criticizing. Raymond dyes his hair with shoe polish, Debra goes overboard with eyeliner, and Robert gets Botox injections. When Marie realizes the truth, she apologizes for her comments, but is upset Frank didn't listen to what she said and says they have a loveless marriage. This really upsets Frank, causing him to yell at her, break the new glasses, and storm out and go home. Marie leaves and finds Frank in the kitchen, eating plain white bread. She offers to add something to it, but he refuses, saying he prefers it dry. She retorts, “At least drink milk with it, or you’ll choke to death.” Frank asks her why she cares, and she responds by accusing him of breaking her glasses because she mentioned her loveless marriage. He questions whether she’ll keep repeating it, and she admits that it bothers him when she does. She acknowledges that she can be dramatic sometimes and then pokes fun at Frank’s flaws. However, she asks him if he loves her. Frank, trying to maintain his pride and masculinity, says, “You don’t need glasses for that.” This makes Marie happy, and then Frank asks her if there’s any sandwich meat. She gets excited and grabs food from the fridge, only to stop and remember that it’s Thanksgiving, and Debra had made all the food…on second thought, they should eat first.
