Philip Rosenthal (born in 1960) is an American television producer, writer and occasional actor. Rosenthal was born in the New York borough of Queens, famous for being the backdrop to such sitcoms as All In The Family but as a child spent most of his childhood living in New City, NY which is located in Rockland County. During his high school years at Clarkstown North High, Rosenthal was very active in the school's drama clubs. Rosenthal graduated from Clarkstown in 1977 moving on to Hofstra University where he graduated in 1981. in the early 80's he was an actor based out of New York City before shifting his focus to production work. Some of Rosenthal's production credits include:

  • Coach
  • Baby Talk
  • Newsweek

Occasionally Rosenthal has ventured into acting appearing in a few minor roles:

  • Spanglish (Business Colleague)
  • The Simpsons Movie (Uncredited)

But Rosenthal's greatest association came in 1996 in the form of the hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond which he co-created with an up & coming comedian named Ray Romano the show was based on a large part of Romano's stand up routine became one of the most critically acclaimed shows of its time winning numerous awards and fans in the process.

Phil has written a book entitled "You're Lucky You're Funny: How Life Becomes a Sitcom,"in which he recounts how his life led to one of the greatest sitcoms in television history.
