Synopsis[]
While in Frank and Marie's basement, Ray and Robert find their old ping pong table. They begin to remember the days when they played against their father when they were young. Ray was so happy that he had finally beat Frank at the game. Then he found out that Frank let him win all those years ago.
Furious that his father lied to him, Ray wanted a rematch. So when the two played, Ray ended up letting Frank win just so he knew how it felt. ...And then Frank was angry.
Running Gags[]
Robert touches the ping pong ball to his chin, as he does with food and other items throughout the series.
Marie says one of her famous tag-lines: "I don't like that, Raymond."
Trivia[]
- Actress Patricia Heaton was pregnant at the time of filming for this episode, so she did not appear in many of the shots. And when she did, she either wore big, baggy clothing or held an object, such as blankets, in front of her to hide the pregnant belly.
- Ray talks about eating a fluffernutter (which is a sandwich), but the English subtitles on the DVD have it spelled incorrectly: fluffanutter.
- Robert's apartment was mentioned, but never seen in this episode.
Production Notes[]
- By production order, this is the fourteenth episode of the third season. This is the first episode to have the Worldwide Pants logo play its own piano ditty from the show when appearing after the Where's Lunch dish. In the next episode, the HBO logo plays before the Worldwide Pants logo for the final time in Season 3, which is done because CBS felt the next episode would be funnier and should be worth a one-week wait.
- Tom Caltabiano moves up to Executive Story Editor, but Aaron Shure remains at Story Editor.
- Cathy Bond subs for Elena Santaballa as Second Assistant Director.
- Today's reruns move the Production Staff credits up.
- Today's reruns use an alternate version of the Where's Lunch dish from The Wedding: Part 1, turning counterclockwise and heading southeast, but the Worldwide Pants logo still plays next.
Quotes[]
- Marie: "Here. I brought you some lasagna for strength."
