Ray's friend and co-worker Andy writes his own article hoping to become a sports writer. But when Ray reads it, he doesn't like it. When he gives Andy some constructive criticism, he hurts Andy's feelings.
The following week, Andy tells Ray he submitted the article to Sports Illustrated magazine without Ray's corrections, and they bought it. Ray then feels jealous, until he finds out that Sports Illustrated completely rewrote Andy's article.
Running Gags[]
- Ray, as always, refers to Debra with some funny nickname. But in this episode, he was referring to his kids as well. He called them all monkeys.
Trivia[]
- Actress Patricia Heaton was pregnant at the time of filming for this episode, so she did not appear in many of the shots. And when she did, she either wore big, baggy clothing or held some object, like a pillow or bed sheets, in front of her to cover up the pregnant belly.
- This is one of the few episodes in which the viewer sees where Ray works. Giants Stadium is shown.
Production Notes[]
- The credits shift to the right in today's reruns of this episode.
- Shelly Woodhouse-Collins subs for Eryn Krueger as Make-Up Artist again. This previously happened in The Ride-Along. She will later join Eryn as a permanent Make-Up Artist starting with Season 4.
- Today's reruns use an alternate version of the Where's Lunch? dish from The Garage Sale. The dish moves downward and clockwise, becoming more centered.
Quotes[]
- Marie: "Raymond, when they say on the box "fork split", doesn't that mean they've started it for you already?"
