Synopsis[]
Amy and her mother are preparing Thanksgiving dinner, while Hank and Peter are sitting in the living room. The Barones arrive for dinner, and Pat invites them in. Frank asks Hank where the TV is, and Hank informs him that they don't watch TV.
Pat informs the group that they are going to act out a Thanksgiving play, starring the children and Peter as Squanto. As the adults gather in the living room, Frank and Hank begin discussing their napping habits. Pat offers Marie some appetizers, telling her that everyone says Marie is "the best cook in the world". Debra leaves the room to help the boys get glue out of their hair.
After Debra leave, a bird hits the front of the house. Pat tells them that she'll take care of it, and carries him to the kitchen. She comes back in, telling everyone that she killed the bird to put it out of its misery. The Barones are all horrified by this, but the MacDougalls don't seem bothered by it. The two families become very agitated with each other.
Debra reenters with the kids to perform the Thanksgiving play to find the two families visibly upset. They start with the play, but it quickly dissolves into insults between the two families. When it comes to a part in the play where Frank and Hank are supposed to embrace, Frank refuses to continue. The Barones and MacDougalls begin shouting at each other until Debra intervenes. Frank tells Debra that Pat killed the bird, but Debra says it's not a big deal. Robert takes Debra's side, causing tension with Amy.
Frank says that the bird was one of God's creatures and deserved more respect. Pat enters with the turkey, which Frank quickly begins eating. The Barones and MacDougalls finally sit down and eat dinner together.
